8 Days Tour in Veneto (Italy) and Milano: Part 3 (Visit to Verona)

It has been a long time since my wife and I wanted to visit Venezia, Padova, and Verona (in the Veneto Region of Italy). As follows, we report our trip experience indicating what is worth visiting and a description of the best restaurants we tried during our holidays according to different criteria (location, menu, service, and price). Our tips and plan can be adapted to 6-8 Days in Italy spent in the areas of Venice, Padova & Verona.

Structure of Pages in this Blog post:

- Days 1 and 2 - Visit to Venice

- Day 3 (morning) - Visit to Padova

- Day 3 (evening), Day 4 (End of the Year), and Day 5 - In Verona

- Day 6 and Day 7 - In Milano

Our adventure continues with our next destination: Verona.

Verona is known around the world as the capital of troubled love, having hosted the story of the world's two most famous lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Don't be swayed by the ending, though: Verona is a perfect city for a weekend getaway (even a romantic weekend getaway, yes! Who knows, maybe it will bring you luck…). To romantically visit the city we suggest taking a map with you  :)

We arrived a bit late in Verona and it was evening, but still had the time to do a little walk around the Arena di Verona and beyond. We were amazed by the end-of-the-year atmosphere of the City (full of lights and a vibrant life).

Close to our hotel and the Arena di Verona, we reserved a restaurant (with Enoteca) called Dari and had a good dinner. Interestingly, at our hotel, we got surprised with "spumante", right before our dinner...

Restaurant 3: "Dari"

Location 9:  The location was an elegant, colorful place with good background music, elegant misanplas, and an intimate atmosphere.

Menù 9: We got for dinner truffle mortadella with giardiniera, second of Amarone cheek with mashed potato and dehydrated onion, chickpea puree with lobster, and tiramisu 2.0. The food was of great quality, including the presentation.

Service 9: the service was present and unobtrusive, welcoming and knowledgeable, and careful to every detail (with dispenser for oil, wine centimeter)

Price 7.5: We have paid what one expects from a place like this in Verona.

End of the year in Verona.

For the end of the year, we decided to start with an abundant breakfast, and then, with a Map in our hand, we started our tour of the City.

Hence we started to visit the many attractions of the city.

Very romantic was the visit to Juliet's house and the surrounding area. Local legends say that if a couple touches the right breast of Juliet, it will bring joy and luck to the couple <3

The evening of the end of the year was magical. We had a nice dinner at a local, historical place. Then we enjoyed with locals met in Verona the fireworks and the first hours of the year (see also the following videos).

New year in Verona...

The new year (2023) started a bit slow, we wanted to rest before doing a tour of the city.

We visited the Teatro Romano, the Historical Museum of Verona, Castelvecchio, etc.

Restaurant 4: Marinato

Location 7.5:  After so much walking, we had dinner in a restaurant in the center of Verona, called “Marinato”. The location is  Marine style.

Menù 8.5: We got seafood salad, spaghetti with clams, and catch of the day (fillet of Ricciola all' acqua pazza). The food was very good, the menù has a wide selection of only fish or pizza, with excellent fish and balanced flavors that respect the flavor of the product.

Service 8: the service is fast and non-invasive.

Price 9: We have paid a very fair price.

If you have a car and have more time, we suggest visiting Peschiera and Sermione (both close to Verona).
